HOLIDAY CAMPS

Looking for a positive way of keeping children active, happy and fulfilled during school holidays?

Whether your child is totally new to rugby or a rising rugby star, RugbyKids’ lively holiday camps offer the perfect chance for them to banish boredom and burn off energy.

Our camps are non-residential and will usually take place at a local school, park, rugby club or sports centre.

As with our popular after-school clubs and curriculum lessons, RugbyKids Holiday Camps are for children aged 7 to 11. They run for a full day, and parents usually sign their children up for a block of several days.

(Yes, we know what you’re thinking: several days during the hols without having to entertain the kids – woohoo!)

Our bright and brilliant RugbyKids Coaches pack each camp full of age-apporpriate (and experience-appropriate) games that engage and educate as well as excite and entertain. While built on the basics of rugby, our games are all non-contact. As we like to say, we tackle a lot… but without any tackling!

You can expect your child to finish their camp with new friends, a boosted sense of confidence and sportsmanship – and more able, pass, kick, run with a ball and play as part of a team.

At last but not least, expect them to have a massive smile on their face!

HOLIDAY CAMP FAQs

New to RugbyKids Holiday Camps? Here are some of the common questions parents ask us.

This may sound strange, but a love of rugby is definitely not a requirement! While rugby-related skills are woven into many of our games, most also involve skills, activities and learning that are common to other sports and lots of other areas of life. So, as long as your child likes to have fun, they will have a great time.

RugbyKids offers something a little different to what your child might do in the kids team at a local rugby club. First and foremost, we are about having fun, not about training future rugby internationals (although if that’s what they go on to become, we’ll be super pleased!).

At a RugbyKids Holiday Camp, rugby-loving children will be sure to hone and improve some of their existing skills, but will also learn things that benefit them across a whole range of other sporting and non-sporting activities.

Your child can wear their favourite sports kit or any clothing suitable for running around in. Most camps take place on grass, so many kids prefer to wear boots (rugby, football or hockey) but trainers will be fine – and are definitely the thing to wear if the camp is indoors or on a hard court!

Your child needs to bring lunch, a bottle of water (ideally with a spords cap) and a couple of snacks. In summer, they need to wear a hat or cap and and have sun cream already applied. A jumper and raincoat are a good idea if the weather looks like it could be poor.

If the camp is outside on a field, then yes, they might get muddy.

RugbyKids Holiday Camps are entirely non-contact. No tackling, no scrums, and none of the rough stuff of the grown-up game! Of course, whenever children are running around or playing games, there’s always a chance someone will trip over, bruise an elbow or scratch a knee.

All our coaches and coaching assistants are Enhanced DBS checked, and we can provide certificates if required. Our coaches undergo our comprehensive RugbyKids training programme before running classes.

What’s more, many of our coaches have been working with RugbyKids and our sister company Rugbytots for years, so are highly experienced at engaging with, energising and entertaining young children.

With most of our Camps, everything is done through the RugbyKids Parent Area. This online portal is quick, secure and easy to use, and can be accessed from your phone, tablet or laptop. When you contact us to book a place, we will set you up with login details.

It’s great having RugbyKids run one of our after-school clubs at the school. The children love the sessions and enjoy being outside learning about the basics of the game. They look forward to it every week.

Andrew Davis, Head of Sport

My son and daughter both love RugbyKids. Without it, they would not be learning basic rugby skills at this point in their lives – not until secondary school. So it’s a great head start.

Caroline Gardner, Parent

Since RugbyKids have been coming to the school, the children have improved across all of their sport. We as teachers notice a big difference in their skill levels, listening and fitness. It’s a huge bonus that they seem to have loads of fun too!
