INTRODUCING RUGBYKIDS
RugbyKids allows children in Key Stage 2 (age 7 to 11) the chance to try rugby in a fun yet focused way in the familiar environment of school.
While rugby offers so much from a physical development perspective – running, jumping, catching, passing – we’ll not only teach children the basics of the game, but also valuable lessons around sportsmanship, teamwork and discipline.
Our coaches create a fun, dynamic and inclusive environment for all: girls and boys, tall and short, fast and slow, sport-loving and sport-shy.
You don’t have to already know about rugby or like rugby to love RugbyKids!
While participation in RugbyKids classes may kindle a life-long passion for the sport in some – or even light the touchpaper of a future Rugby World Cup winner – this is not our goal.
We simply want to help more children to have the opportunity to try – and to enjoy – something new and active at or after school. The success of a RugbyKids session is measured in smiles, not on a scoreboard!
THE RUGBYKIDS STORY
Back in 2006, rugby-playing parent Max Webb was trying to find a pre-school rugby class for his three young boys… but there was nothing of that kind around.
It quickly became clear that Max had spotted a very exciting gap in the child development sector. Seizing the opportunity to start his own business – and fulfil his wish of involving his boys in rugby at a fun and accessible level – he founded Rugbytots.
Rugbytots has grown to become the world’s favourite rugby play programme. Over 80,000 little Rugbytots take part each week, with classes in 20 countries on six continents.
It’s been an incredible success, with the Rugbytots brand now well known for teaching children in nursery or Key Stage 1. But Max and his team noticed many children are still missing out on the chance to begin or continue their fun rugby journey.
While rugby is taught at many secondary schools in the UK, girls and boys of junior-school age often miss out. What’s more, children from some backgrounds feel rugby is a sport only other kids get to enjoy.
It’s a sport for all with a funny shaped ball!
RugbyKids is here to change those perceptions and bring the many benefits of rugby-based training to children aged 7 to 11 in schools all across the UK.
So, we would love to hear from you if you’re a teacher, headteacher, governor or decision maker in a school that might benefit. Or if you’re the parent or carer of a child in Key Stage 2 who would like to try something new and learn new skills while having lots of fun!

It’s great having RugbyKids run one of our after-school clubs at the school. The children love the sessions and enjoy being outside learning about the basics of the game. They look forward to it every week.
My son and daughter both love RugbyKids. Without it, they would not be learning basic rugby skills at this point in their lives – not until secondary school. So it’s a great head start.
Since RugbyKids have been coming to the school, the children have improved across all of their sport. We as teachers notice a big difference in their skill levels, listening and fitness. It’s a huge bonus that they seem to have loads of fun too!
