CURRICULUM LESSONS

Introduce rugby to your pupils through our fun, structured curriculum-time lessons.

RugbyKids’ curriculum lessons take place during the school day. We will usually deliver one rugby lesson per group per week over the course of a full or half term. Lessons can involve one year group or a mix of pupils from different Key Stage 2 year groups.

All sessions are non-contact and suitable for all abilities. The lessons are engaging, energetic and hugely enjoyable. Pupils don’t need any previous experience or knowledge of rugby – just an appetite for fun and a desire to try something new!

Our coaches are brilliant at helping children develop skills that apply to all kinds of sports, not just rugby. They are fully trained by us, have Enhanced DBS checks and certificates, and are covered by both personal accident and public liability insurance from the leading childcare insurance company.

Most importantly, RugbyKids sessions are designed to work hand-in-hand with the Key Stage 2 curriculum to ensure children get the most from their PE lessons. This dedicated focus also enables your school to use the PE and sport premium to pay for classes.

RUGBYKIDS LESSONS: KEY STAGE 2 CURRICULUM AT THEIR CORE

Schools love RugbyKids as we have designed our classes around the PE aims of the KS2 curriculum.

The curriculum says pupils should be taught to:

  • use running, jumping, throwing and catching in various ways
  • play competitive games, modified where appropriate
  • develop flexibility, strength, technique, control and balance
  • take part in outdoor and adventurous activity challenges
  • demonstrate improvement to achieve their personal best
  • perform dances using a range of movement patterns

We deliver against all of this… apart from the dance moves (although we do help enhance children’s footwork and physical co-ordination)!

Being driven by these KS2 aims has enabled us to develop many positive and long-lasting relationships with schools. The testimonials from schools at the bottom of this page reflect this, and we can supply recommendations from other schools on request.

What’s more, as well as teaching your school’s children we can teach members of staff. By ‘teaching the teacher’ we enable your school to deliver the benefits of RugbyKids without our coaches always being present.

It’s great having RugbyKids run one of our after-school clubs at the school. The children love the sessions and enjoy being outside learning about the basics of the game. They look forward to it every week.

Andrew Davis, Head of Sport

My son and daughter both love RugbyKids. Without it, they would not be learning basic rugby skills at this point in their lives – not until secondary school. So it’s a great head start.

Caroline Gardner, Parent

Since RugbyKids have been coming to the school, the children have improved across all of their sport. We as teachers notice a big difference in their skill levels, listening and fitness. It’s a huge bonus that they seem to have loads of fun too!
